How do you get things chromed? I don't think spray paint will make my case as shiney as...say a chrome car bumper. How do I do it then?

Look in the yellow pages for electroplating or bumper repair. As bad as corrosion is in Hawaii you should have no trouble as long as you have lots of money.

In case you're wondering, NO, electroplating cannot be done cheaply AND safely at home. It can't even really be done cheaply at home.

It's easy to get something chromed. They do it all the time for people with custom cars. The hard part is getting the item to be chromed smooth. A case will have to be sanded down (by you) to a mirror finish. Any anomalies will be magnified by the chroming process.

You will be better served by buying a chrome case. I would prefer a stainless steel case.

How about getting one blued, like a gun? That would be cool.
