How to I adress the question and is the proper forum?

I have noticed a given moderator who was quite active in forum debate issues has gone totally silent for over 40 days. Since naming that moderator might be in violation of this sub forum policy, I decline to do so without proper moderator guidance. So for now I will refer to that moderator as Moderator X.

And while moderator X and I seldom see eye to eye on political issues, I have always respected moderator X for his or her personal conduct. So my thread should not be construed as anything like a moderator call out since I am on record of respecting moderator X.

But still, I wonder if moderator X will be back, and my motive is pure curiosity. Maybe moderator X won some year long world cruise which might be wonderful, but mainly I hope nothing adverse has happened. But still any plain user or moderator has a right to privacy. So I seek some guidance here in asking those type of questions.

Why not just say what happened to whoever? The mods are people, any polite question is met with a polite answer.
