How to hook up regular stereo speakers to Comp

I have a pair of outside speakers in my new house and the wires come in right by my computer desk then go downstairs, I was wondering if there was any way to interface the (PC sound card & stereo speakers) two without bringing in a large stereo amplifier.

if they are just speakers, and aren't amplified themselves, the answer is no - you need an amplifier somewhere along the line, and your sound card can only output line-level signals. If the outdoor speakers have built in amplifiers (as some do) then all you need is a cord or adapter to hook up the 3.5mm stereo plug in your soundcard to the (probably RCA) input of your speakers. If the wires you refer to are speaker wires, then you don't have a built in amplifier, and will need to get one.
