how to hook up an n64 to my computer...

in my room, i have very limited space. i am wondering how i can eliminate as much clutter as possible, so i am trying to hook up my n64 to my monitor.


is it possible to hook up my n64 to my monitor using any kind of device? i dont care what it is...if you guys know this is possible, id like to know what i need to do it.

I used to do that with my Radeon VIVO but the picture quality was buttt. I sent the video to the Video In of the card and set the sound through my sound card but it was a pretty crude setup.

Someone told me that the AIW ATI cards will do this rather easily. Basically any card with S-Video In should work but most cards only feature S-Video Out.
 
hm, well what kind of cards can i use to do this that arent super expensive?

i have a stereo receiver to use for the sound...
 
hmm my roomate did this, i frogot how, i think he used RF adapter of his n64 and pluged it into his TV card

the other way to do it is , get an s-video cable / regular RCA yellow converter, it comes with most graphics cards with s-video in
and if u have a soundblater live platinum it comes with the red and white audio connecters so u cna plug them in to that. there is also pv-tv convergance cable u cna buy at radio snack for a couple of bucks. i am pretty sure hte previous info is correct, but i might be mistaken
 
I had a similar problem. I am leaving for college in a week and just realized that my TV has no composite video, its just a basic 19" with cable ready. So then the new PC gamer came in and I saw the ViewSonic Nextvision 5 advertised. It has a built in TV-tuner and you can just plug in your x-box, ps2, gamecube and play those on your monitor. Talk about saving some space in my dorm room.

The Dell 2000FP talked about in Hot Deals has compositie and s-video in. No tv-tuner though, but wouldn't rather have a tivo? 🙂
 
Here is a hook up I just came up with. I took a spare VCR and hooked the RCA cable outputs to the in port on my SBLive and Dazzle DVC-50 (That I got for free after rebate in a Staples deal last year). I can then use FreeVCR to watch TV or videos on my computer. I can also run the coax out to another TV (I have it hooked to a ATI TV Wonder card on another computer). Just another option for you - although there are cheaper options if you don't have all this stuff "laying around" like I did.
