2+ computer setup both xp pro on peer to peer network.

computer A has printer HP2110 attached USB to it and sharing it.

Want to be able to print from computer B but not let others on the network see the share or even see the "Printers and Faxes" icon when they type \\<computer A>

any ideas on how to hide it.

I have tried to name the printer 2110$, but this only hides it from being showed as shared on the computer, but if you click on the "Printers and Faxes" icon you can see the printer.

any ideas,

thanks,
bob

setup security. Allow access only to the user from computer B. You will need XP Pro for this, home doesn't allow real file share security.

right click on the shared driver, go to the sharing tab. Remove the everyone user, add a username that is the same un/pw as host B with full acess. Go to the security tab and add hostB un/pw with full access.

It's bad (ms best practices) to remove the everyone user from the sharing tab, but then no one can see it. Best practices call for "everyone" "full control" on the sharing tab, and use the security tab to establish permission on a per user/group basis.
