My backgound is in accounting and finance. I have been doing this
for 4 years. I don't really want to do this work anymore. I was thinking
about becoming a teacher. I have a bachelors degree in accounting.

Is it even possible? How would I go about making the change?

Should be pretty easy... check your state colleges for programs. Before spending all that time and money maybe pick up a volunteer tutoring gig and see if you like it.

It varies from state to state I think, but in Florida I think at the end of the day all you really needed to do was take an exam to be certified and then find a job.

Also check out Teaching Fellows programs, which are available in most metropolitan areas (NYC, Chicago, Philadelphia, D.C., etc.).

Both programs recruit intelligent, motivated people from different non-teaching backgrounds and place them in high-need areas (mostly inner city schools, but TFA also places in poor rural areas). You get a crash course on teaching and a temporary teaching certificate that lets you teach while working towards a Masters degree in education/teaching (the programs help fund that education).
