How to get your sims person to marry another?

My sim has been engaged forever but I cant figure out how to marry the other sim ... how do I go about doing that ?

and on a side note, yeah .. come on, let the flaming begin ...

For starters, I've no idea whether homesexual relationships can occur in Sims 2, never tried it.

With my sims, once they were engaged for a day or so, the option to marry appeared in the radial menu.

hmm ... I havnt gotten that option yet and I got a warning that says that my sim is about to enter the next stage of his life and I need to get married because one of his fears is not getting married.
