How to get Windows Update to function on client?

I have two computers on a network using DLink DFE 910 network in a box. The network works great except when I use Windows Update on the client, I get "Your organization has decided to provide software updates internally rather than through Windows Update. To download updates for your computer, please see your network administrator."

Both computers connect to the internet using cable modem. One computer is the server and the second is the client. Wingate is the software and I have a firewall on the server, ZoneAlarm. The server's OS is Win98 SE, and the client's OS is Win 98 first edition.

Perhaps also important is that I have Norton Antivirus 2001 installed.

Any ideas as how to get functional Windows Update on the client?
