How to get Win 7 to see my XP computers on the LAN

I can't get Win 7 home premium to see my networked computers although media center can find them to share files with. I have been playing around in file explorer and network settings and can't seem to get them to show up.

Same workgroup?

User accounts with identical passwords on each machine (logged in as that user on each machine)

Same subnet?

SMB ports open through each machines firewall?

I think I got it figured out. I went into system and changed the workgroup name to match my home network. They should have a link to this in the advanced network setup. I was having problems figuring out how to get to where you change the workgroup name. There is such a thing as too many wizards that like to hide stuff from you.

Win7 Home groups work only between Win 7 computers.

What is called Work Network is the way it works on privous releases of Windows.

When other OS involve in the sharing you choose this,
