How to get web good traffic?

I started a small business (shameless plug... **removed** ) and was wondering what are some effective and cheap methods to get quality web traffic, other than posting in the body of forums? I'm sure I could spend thousands of dollars on Google "adwords" and get "free porn", but that's not the traffic I think I need to attract to be successful. Any advise, thoughts, or other general ramblings would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Brad

Posting a link to your site on anandtech will not get you traffic when you are a new member.

This is classed as "trolling", and any decent person on the forums (All of us of course), will disapprove of it.

Anyway, submit your site to a bunch of search engines, swap advertisements with other sites etc, theres loads of ways

you have typos in your "about us" page. Not professional. Also put a link in your sig and post here. Lastly, dont just type the URL of your site: link it. We're lazy.

My apologies, for the link and the typos (I appreciate you pointing that out). The webpage isn't really supposed to be live for another week or so, and obviously it still needs to be proofed. Having had 0 visitors to the site so far, I wasn't really concerned. My original post was more derived from the frustration of trying to figure out how to get yahoo, google, msn, etc. to recognize that my page existed. Even doing an explicit search resulted in nothing.

Any advise would be appreciated. Again, apologies for the link, I'll remove it. Thanks.

i didn't say remove the link, i said link it as i did in my above post. anyways, getting on a search engine takes a long time. getting anywhere near the top is difficult. you have to have alot of sites linking to yours...at least that's how google works.

I have found www.sitepointforums.com to be useful in helping me generate traffic as well as help me with design and coding as well. Submit your site for review and see what comes up.
