how to get video to my tv

I have KODI (xbmc)in the basement. I have a chromecast and apple tv 2 with latest update (GRR, wife) in the bedroom. AppleTV2 is wifi as is the chromecast. I can't use allcast to stream videos from kodi to the tv as it is always buffering. I want to stream directly from kodi to either apple tv2 or the chromecast and not have to use my ipad or android phone as the middle man.

Whats the best and easiest way of doing this. All this technology; it should be easy and surely someone has made an app to do this. I can't/won't put xbmc on the apple tv 2

Not sure if this the best solution for you, but sometimes I use the Chrome Extension Videostream from my PC to send videos to my Chromecast connected TV. You control the media either from the computer or there's a free app that let's your mobile device act as a remote.

XBMC is front end of TV, not technically a server, that's why the device running XBMC is usually directly connected to the display. Because you're running this on a server in the basement, maybe you're looking for something like Plex? You can then install the client on the Apple TV.

I installed plex server on my media center last night but can't figure out how to get plex on the apple tv 2. I did install plex to my ipad and then airplayed it to the atv2, but don't see how to install software to a non jailbroken atv2

Looks like I'm going to have to fool around with plex connect

Use the Chromecast instead. It has an easy to use Plex app.

I ended up using plex connect with my apple tv 2. I'm on firmware 6.2.1 and it was extremely easy to set up. Now I just use the trailers app/icon and I can stream movies from Kodi to the apple tv. I watched a couple movies last night with no stuttering and the image was pretty good also.
