I try dragging some of my video files to itunes and it said the format wasn't supported.

I don't know why, but I did it flawlessly on my SG SII and it work great!

Needs to be in the proper format to work, and done through iTunes.

My workaround involved Dropbox and a media player app that supports Dropbox, in this case CineXplayer. Creates a folder for CineX in your Dropbox, you put movies in there, they show up in CineX, then you copy it to your local device and it will play most major formats.

Either what Red Storm suggested or:

1: Using AirVideo, you can stream the videos to your device. It will transcode them on the fly if necessary.

2: Using Handbrake, you can convert the videos to a format and resolution appropriate to the device.

AVplayerHD is what I use on my iPad. No converting nonsense, just drag n drop.
