How to get to DOS prompt in Win ME

Help!! I can't get to a DOS prompt before Win ME starts. I tried shift +F5 and shift + F8 with no luck, it goes into safe mode. ME is different than 98. RRRRRRRR

Once it boots in safe mode, type "msconfig" at the run prompt. That will allow you to configure how it boots and you can set it to 'normal' boot if you wish.

Thanks but I don't want "normal". I want the good old flashing C:\ prompt before any of the Windows junk starts to load--no memory managers. R

Well...when all else fails, create a boot disk. You can do that by going into your control panel and selecting 'add and remove programs'. I think it's an option on the advanced tab somewhere....been a while since I've done that.

never used it myself(didn't use ME period) but I do know it works from others who tried it
