how to get the SATA storage drive working

hello. i have finally built my rig, but have run into a few complications. i have a raptor connect to sata port1 and i use it for my boot drive. i have a seagate 200gb sata in port 2 as a storage drive. im not running raid, and i simply use it for storage. but now that ive got my OS up and running, my computer does not display my second drive for partitioning. i have a feeling its because its not the typical IDE drive. does anyone know how i can get it to start working? thanks
