I need to get a very basic amd athlon x2 3800+ desktop. I remember that a member once posted a link that somehow cut $50 or so off of the price that I would have gotten if I just clicked through their homepage. Now that link is expired and I'm wondering what the trick was.. It wasn't a coupon code or anything...

Oh my! That's an amazing deal - so sorry I missed that. Grrr, anything similar at all out there? My parents are getting it for me as a "yay, you're finally going back to college you douchebag" gift and I want to stay as below-$700 as possible, including monitor.

edit: I will just add that I'm a media student so the X2 (or core 2 duo processor) is my only requirement for rendering work.. i can add ram and such at my own expense later.

Yeah it was pretty damn hot, I convinced a few friends and co-workers to order a few.

I would check SlickDeals.net and GotApex.com for other current Dell offers.
