My sister got an Asus T100TA running windows 8.1 the other day. I've got everything tweeked how she likes it except it wont play the audible alerts for Yahoo and Skype when it goes into lock mode.
She runs it in desktop mode only, using the desktop applications rather than the Metro UI. I have it set so the screen turns off after 5 minutes to preserve battery life, and when the screen turns off it goes into lock mode.
I have already done the reg edit that removes the 'lock screen' and it still didn't fix my issue.
This is probably the biggest issue I have found going from windows 7 to windows 8, it essentially makes it so I cannot allow the screen to go off to preserve battery.
