How to get something notarized?

I have a liability form that I need to get notorized. There are tons of notary 'directories' online, and they all show different people for my area; 1 or 2. My dad says there should be hundreds. I'm a little doubtful of that, but given the relative innaccuracy of the various directories, I think there's more than any of them show.

Where can I get something notarized? A town hall, a bank?

Banks (if you have an account there, generally), some police departments (unlikely, but the one I work at has a notary), maybe the post office?

local public library ... done it twice, 2 different libraries... call first and make sure the notary public person is working during those hours.

I called my library, I had to hustle 'cause they closed 10 minutes later. Got it done, and in the mail. Woot. Thanks for the suggestions.

<-sucks at life.
Notary: someone legally empowered to witness signatures and certify a document's validity and to take depositions
