I haven't pulled this one in years, so I decided to whip it out this morning.

1. Make a text file containing the line: <BGSOUND SRC=<LINK TO WHATEVER GOOFY SOUND YOU WANT> LOOP=10>
2. Save the text file as "Stationary.html"
3. Put file on the network or on the victim's computer
4. Set Outlook (or Outlook Express) to use the file as the default stationary.
5. Turn down the victim's volume.
6. Hilarity ensues everytime he sends an email. If he sends one to management- DOUBLE hilarity.

I don't use outlook... what's stationary for and why is the victim's volume being turned down?

so they don't hear the sound before they send the email, assuming the recepient does have the volume turned up; they'll hear the sound

Stationary is like a template to use when sending an email. You could set colors, fonts, background color, etc. But in this case, you add a looping background sound, hahaha.

My old boss got nailed with that one, it said "HEY EVERYONE, I'M LOOKING AT GAY PORNO!" over and over in a loop, it was awesome.

I used to mess around with dns zones. people would type in google.com and our dns server would redirect it to a gay porn site that opened a control less pop up with a flash vid on it. Watching people frantically figure out a way to close the page was hilarious.

Am I doing this wrong? Testing it, I set it up on my pc first. When I click create email, I can hear the sound, so I sent the email to myself. When I open it the sound doesn't play. Is it only supposed to play when you write an email, or also when you open it to read it?

It should play when you open it (the whole point), but it may only work with MS mail clients.

You must have worked at an awfully small company - if someone did that here they'd get fired so fast their head would spin. It's not even what I would call a strict environment; things are reasonably laid back.

Yea that was at a small multimedia company. It was the CEO who asked me to do the prank.

Understood - I worked at a small company in a former life. One day we had a stripper in the office for one of the founder's birthdays. Of course that was well over 10 years ago, but it still boggles my mind when I think about it in the context of the HR departments I deal with today.

Lucky you didn't get fired and you and your company sued over that. Real asshole move by someone in control of a network.

Your signature should also get you banned here.
