I installed a progarm (Mspeed)used to speed-up downloads and lower ping rates in games. Now I get prompt for a password on the loading of win95 now. Any clue on how to get rid of it? Thanks in advance.
im not sure if its the same thing as win98, but in win98 to get rid of the logon screen all you do is erase your *.pwl files, they are located in the windows folder. like i said i dont know if this is the same thing as win95.
Yea....remove the *.pwl files. Then when it asks for a password....
don't give it anything...
then confirm the password, (nothing) and it shouldn't ask you again.
After deleting the pwl files, open the properties for Network Neighborhood and make sure your "Primary Network Logon" is set to "Windows Logon"
you don't need to upgrade. this is the way to get rid of the logon prompt.
(1) Go into Windows and delete all the *.PWL files in WINDOWS dir
(2) In Control Panel -> Network make sure that it's set to WINDOWS LOGIN
(3) Reboot the computer
(4) Put in a user name
(5) Do NOT enter a password.
Tried that and it did not work for some reason. Funny thing is I do not have an option under networks about anything dealing with windows login. Thanks anyways
Under Network I have three options; Configuration, Identification, and Access Control. Under Access Control I have two options Share-level access control (this one is maked) and User-level access control. I'm running Win95b if this helps.
It should be under configuration, underneath the box with your protocols and such (TCP/Dial-up adapter/etc). If it is not there it must be different than windows98...I am SURE that is where it is in 98.
