How to get rid of Flash from IE 5.0?

Hey guys,

I'm running Win2K with IE 5.0. I got annoyed with Yahoo lately because of all the friggin Flash ads. I went thru and deleted the flash plugin and removed the keys from my registry.

Now everytime I visit a page on Yahoo, an annoying dialog box pops up and asks me if I want to install Flash 6.0??? A copy of the dialog box is here. (click on the flash_dialog.jpg).

How can I get rid of the stupid dialog box from popping up each time I visit a page on yahoo?? I tried pop-up killer and it won't stop it because it seems to be a system dialog box -- not a web-ad dialog box.

Any help appreciated.

It seems you'd get this every time since you don't have it now. It wants to play, recognizes you don't have the player, and so on. Is there a way to refuse from their certificate permanently? Maybe install, remove the player, but leave the cookie, or the thing it drops in "downloaded programs". Trick it into thinking it's there, yet remove the device that actually loads.

Good luck

Flash does not show up in the control panel -> add remove software applet.

The only way to remove flash is to follow the directions on the flash website here.

Anyone else have any ideas on how to get rid of this annoying 'feature' of Yahoo??

If I upgrade to IE 5.5 or IE 6.0 are there any special options for blocking plug-ins??
