How to get rid of Desktop Explorer on Nvidia 27.xx?

How do you get rid of this stupid icon? I have no use for it because if I double-click on it it just gives me the "This page cannot be displayed" error. I just want it to be gone. Anyone know?

display properties => settings => advanced => GeForce3 => additional properties => desktop utilities

(I don't know anything about your OS or hardware, but the above is how I get there on mine)

Yeah I am there and I have both of the boxes unchecked. But it still wont go away.

Metalloid15 - Hi, I too am playing with the 27.xx dets but am having troubles with them.
I find that doing a manual scan with Norton Antivirus gives me a memory error every time i click finished.
If you have Virus software could you try the above and post what happens - be appreciated.
Ive also found that when you enable Desktop Explorer i cannot open Windows Explorer no more!
As soon as i remove these dets or just disable the nView everything works fine again.
Have you had this problem?
This is driving me nuts

had the same problem. i uninstalled the 27.xx then went to the folder i have them in and deleted the 2 *.exe files - one was the wizard and the other the cpl file, also nuked the nview.dll as i recall - basically got rid of the nview looking files and reinstalled the drivers, and when the installation asked for them, i did the 'skip file'. got rid of it and the drivers work great.

Rockhard, When I enabled desktop manager I can still use windows explorer. I didnt get around to installing and trying the antivirus thing but I dont have norton anyway. Sounds like you have a bad set of drivers. Did you use detonator destroyer on your old drivers befor going to the 27.xx's? Also, what version do you have? I have the 27.20's. Try downloading a different set of drivers.

Im using XP so was unable to find a detonator destroyer for XP as the one i found said for Win9x/2K only?
The dets im using are the 27.42's which look like a cotia release as theyre the nVidia .exe installed version so cannot see how they could be a cobbled together driver like i have seen in the past with some releases.
If you have seen a detonator driver destroyer for XP be grateful for a link so i can see if that may be my problem.

And I would like to ask you 27.** if you have fixed the 60hz refresh rate problem, because nVidia refresh rate fix 2.1 doesn't work with 27.** yet. And also I noticed that it's not possible to use SoftQuadro anymore with RivaTuner, so no accelerated openGL lines anymore.

Sorry, I dont know much about the refresh rate 60hz bug but I dont think I have heard of a fix for it. You could try guru3d.com for the xp detonator destroyer but I couldnt find it because their site is down.
