How to get rid of audible clicks in win ME?

Hopefully this question is in the right place. I run my audio out through a receiver to floorstanding speakers. When I'm listening to music and doing something else (ie web browsing) I always get a very audible "clicking" sound whenever I click my mouse. Is there a way to disable this clicking? I'm running a SoundBlaster16 right now (but I'm about to upgrade ).

Do you have your system sounds enabled? If so, disable them through ControlPanel/Sounds. Not sure if this will do it, but it's a place to start.
