How to get rid of ants in house?

JEDI

Lifer
it's small little ants. i;ve tried all the bait traps last year, but they seem to be geared towards the larger ant because the small ants are still here 🙁

so what else can i try?

We have ants right now too 🙁 Earlier i tried burning them with a lighter, one at a time take too long though. 😉

The only bait traps that have ever seemed to work are these ones with liquid inside, other than that spraying ant poison kills them all, but that has to be really bad for the environment/health.

Get a can of Raid: Max for crawling insects. It's a big, dark red can. I have no idea why they make it that huge, as you spray only a little of the stuff around and the bugs are GONE. Within only a few applications I wiped out the ants plaguing my apartment last year.

I've always had success with the ant baits. We just drop it in the middle of the trail of ants and after 10 - 20 minutes they'll start swarming it and taking the bait. Couple days later they're all gone.

Whatever you do, don't buy a namebrand like RAID. Buy something like, "Uncle Bob's Ant Killer". If you get a namebrand, the gubment tends to put more restrictions on how toxic the ant killer can be. Uncle Bob's has probably never been tested by the gubment so you can spray it and kill more ants. Just be sure not to breathe the fumes and certainly don't get any on your skin. (thus don't spray your house while naked...could be hazardous)

Don't use that around kids.... It's pretty strong stuff IIRC.
Plus it works better on Beehives and such.... The problem with ants is that they nest in the walls. It'd be tough to find where they're really coming from. I used to kill those small ants all the time with a bottle of 409. It's not tough to kill them...but it is tough to stop them from coming back. You have to spray for them about every year.

All those ant traps and crap like that have never worked for us. But for some reason, if you just get some good ant killer, and spray it all around their point of entrance they're usually gone after about a week or two. You have to spray it again at least once a week because it seems to wear off, but this has worked for small ants as well as the larger carpenter ants.

It works best, if you start doing it right after they start showing up in your house. If you wait until it gets really bad, it takes longer for them to give up.
