How to get PCs to show up on WSUS console

I'm setting up a WSUS server but for some reason I simply can't get any PCs to show up in the console. I've applied the GPO like the help file says, and the GPO is making it through because I made it change the wallpaper as a test and that part worked. (test environment). In the registry the WSUS server is also set.

But with all that, no PCs will show up in the WSUS console.

I think automatic updates only checks once every 22 hours randomly by default. The computers won't show up on WSUS until they check for updates. You should be able to get them to show up by running WUAUCLT /detectnow on each client.

Yeah tried that command, no go. Windows update service is also running.

What's odd though is when I go to windows update properties by right clicking on my computer and going properties, it's all grayed out,a nd disabled there. But the service IS running. So it's like if it's running, just not doing anything. I'm not even getting the shield icon.

Maybe it's already in progress and they just haven't shown up yet.

Also check to make sure you have the "Specify intranet Microsoft update service location" GP entry set right. it should be: http://servername:Port

Default port is 80. The standard non-default port is 8530.

If that all looks good I would just wait 24hours if you can and see if they show up.

Is it normal that if I go there with a browser it just shows as under construction? Guessing there are specific files/folders the windows update program looks for.
