how to get out of 640x480 res in redhat 7.2?

stuck at 640x480 everythin else my monitor goes out of sync. the video chip is a cyberblade I7 built into this bookpc.

1. press CTRL+ALT+Backspace - it will take you to command line
2. su root - will make you root
3. xf86config - will let you configure X

i got that fixed, then i was messing with the settings again, and i restarted the computer while i had the xonfig open so it must have saved some bad settings now i cant do anything, how can i get back into config without reinstalling? my monitor just gets out of sync errors and shuts off.

nm, got that fixed, but why cant i get my system to run anything higher then 640x480 res?

its not up to linux to recognize them it up to x to do it... and you sometimes have to tell it what it is, it just depends on the video chipset U have... Just like windows, most of the time it will detect it, sometimes not... it depends.
