How to get more voltage to cpu

I don't think I need more at this point, but on my mobo (msi k8n sli), the max volts I can send to my newcastle cpu is 1.7. It seems like if I had a little better cooling, I would want more than that. Is that just plain silly, or is there a way to get more?

What are the bios options on the lanparty sli? You can crank the cpu voltage up higher? Better for ocing in general?

You could probably find a way to modify some connections in order to up the voltage... but that'd be risky. Google can help with this, or with finding a modified BIOS.

I have an EPoX 8KDA3J, and did a couple vmods to it. I can now adjust the vCore and vDIMM up pretty much as high as I want - I have hit 1.85vCore with room to go (and the BIOS set to 1.55v), and 3.4v also with room to spare. So, if you feel like a vmod, it generally takes 1 solder on the mobo per mod, plus a potentiometer (variable resistor) to that wire, and then to ground.

That doesn't sound too too hard, I might look into doing something like that, thanks for the responses. I have looked around for modified bios but haven't found anything yet, but I'm sure they exist.

yes, a volt mod is the way to go. but, its really dangerous, and you have to know what you are doing, otherwise you board, and your cpu will be dead.

I'm with the man. only do it if you know how to solder.

I am going to get a lanparty instead, I think I'll be happier in the long run, and I don't really trust my electricaly abilities enough to mod it.
