how to get more speed for other stuff when burning DVDs

Whenever i burn DVDs, it bring my Comp tis its knees. Like its all chopy just typing this message.

Is there some setting that gets changed along the way that i can change back, or do ijust have to deal with it. Cause i dont remember it always being this slow.

ok, i have raid on the drive im bruning from (on sata controloer on mobo)

and the dvd burner is on ide 1 shared with nothing, im really at a loss.

What kind of raid? Software or hardware?

Is it using DMA? Is the drive it is pulling data off of your main drive?

on the burner or the hdd (for PIO)?

Its hardware raid off my lanparty ultra b, yes itsm y main drive(s) (2x 80gb Seagate 7200 RPM)

Maybe you just need more computer? I have a dvd burner in my old PIII 1ghz machine and I can't do anything else with it when I'm burning a dvd. But in this pc I can play Doom3 while I burn.
