I bought somethings from someone off the internet. The deal started last June. He sent a few of the things every couple months, giving me excuses of his supplier and what not. In November, I decided that it was enough waiting and wanted my money back (minus the costs of what he's sent to me so far). He agreed on this. I kept asking for the money each week, and I got excuses each week. In the middle of December, he stopped responding to my emails. His phone number is now no longer in service.
Here's some details: He lives across the country from me (me in CA, him in TN). I sent the money in the form of a bank cashier's check. There is no written invoice/receipt, but I have all the emails between us. He owes me almost $4000.
What info I have: His name, his phone number (no longer in service), address, phone number of his bank, and working phone number and address of his family in TN.
I am planning on calling his family today to see if they can help me locate the person who owes me money. But I am not sure if they will cooperate or not.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should go about getting my money back and/or what I should tell his family?
