How to get media player 6.4 in XP to autoplay?

i have xp. i dont like mediaplayer 7.x that came with it. so i'm running mplayer2, which is supposely mediaplayer 6.4.

anyway, when i doubleclick on a mpg/avi file, it comes up, but i then have to press PLAY to get it to play. when i had w2k and mediaplayer 6.4, i doubledclicked on the file, and it played automatically.

so how can i do it w/XP?

i dunno
I am double booting xp/2000
i browsed and picked the mplayer2 on the 2000 installation that XP uses to play mpg and it plays it fine when double clicking files
