how to get into google

I have a website and I'm trying to get it listed into google. I've tried submitting my site to tons of these search engine submission programs and I'm using meta tags in my pages, but nothing is helping. Do you guys have any other ideas on how I can get my site to list at all on google?

Most new search engines don't use Meta Tags at all. Hell, you do a search for two certain things (MediaCar and MediaCar skins) and mine comes up right near the top of the list...and i've done NOTHING about submitting to search engines

i don't even think you really have to submitte to google, i think it searchs you website either way. Depending on your traffic and the way your site is set up is how google determines where your site is going to be postioned

My problem isn't with positioning. I can't get it to show up in google at all, anywhere. Really wish I could figure out a way to get it indexed.

I believe, though, that having keywords around heading tags is what Google looks at more than meta tags. Also, having your site linked at other sites is another thing to help out. And getting Google AdSense can help, too, as the GoogleBot will index your site.

For example, yagt.org took forever to show up on google. Now, if you type in the keywords 'relationship advice forum', it's on the first page!

It just takes time... Mine shows up everywhere on Google now. Just search for "Columbus graffiti", "Intellimouse Mod" stuff like that... it shows up. My traffic has gone up a lot since then as well.

Edie: well, at least it DID... I guess your traffic needs to stay up or something, because it's not even on the top 4 pages now Throw in the word "edro13" and it should though.

First get your site listed in the dmoz directory (www.dmoz.org). It fuels (or used to, as of last year) googles directory.

Next, Google ignores meta tags. The keywords you want indexed should be in your page title. e.g. change your title from "Welcome to Joe's site" to "Joe's site - all about widgets and gadgets" or whatever your site is about.

The other thing that is necessary is to have inbound links. Find other related websites and offer to link trade. The more links to your site, the higher ranking you will get and the more often the googlebots will crawl and index your site.

If you have the google toolbar installed, you can see the page rank of different websites. Basically the higher the ranking of the websites that link to you, the higher your own ranking in google will be.

There's only one way to get into Google. You must have a link to your site from another site that is already listed in Google. When Google crawls that site, they will follow the link to your site. If you do this, generally it takes about 2 - 3 weeks to get your first Google listing. If you still aren't getting listed, contact webmaster@google.com to find out if your site or IP is banned for some reason and what you can do to get it indexed again. If you own a domain or are on an IP that was previously banned, it can be quite difficult to get back into Google, but not impossible.
