How to get i7 920 D0 Stepping?

Went to Microcenter today at Rockville, Maryland. They tried to sell me a B0. I requested them to check if they had any D0 stepping ones. The lady at the counter made a passing remark to the customer service guy that was helping me. That remark was.. "uhoh, you've to check in the lock-up. Bet he won't be happy." A few minutes later the guy came back to tell me that they had none.

I am sorta bugged about the deal. How do I get a D0 stepping one? Need your suggestion and help guys. Also, if you are in MD area and know a place that has one, please let me know.

There is no B0 stepping i7 that I'm aware of. Was it a C0? C0 is bad without fresh air you know. 😉

I'll be heading to the MC in Patterson NJ this week, and if I drive all the way down there and they try to sell me a C0, heads will roll. 😛

Since the i7 8xx series uses the B1 stepping, you may have passed up on a new revised stepping for the 9xx series and just didn't known it. Probably not though.

I am surprised to hear that you had this experience in micro center. I bought my D0 at my local Micro Center for 199 and it was a straight forward and easy process. The dude there even gave me some memory advice when he was walking me to the CPU cage.

I m sure bad reps/service can happen at any chain retail maybe you should look for another MC to call.
