i remember somebody posted that question and everybody said it cant be done. i cant find the thread so i started a new one.

here is how to get your dvr recordings off your box

buy a dazzle DVD recorder (pinnaclesys.com) $50.00 bucks.

plug one end into the analog outputs on the back of your box and the other into your computers USB port. Hit play on the DVR, and use Dazzles's included software to capture the video to your computer in real time. from there you can burn shows to DVD for archiving.

Wasn't the original question how to do it quickly, such as copying the video files off?

I wouldn't want to have to babysit my DVR for days to copy off the 40 hours of shows I have.

Or just pull out the hard drive and directly access the files. Mine uses a standard SATA drive.
