how to get cool n quiet workin on MSI K8N SLI plat?

installed the processor driver

enabled cool n quiet in the bios

and it doesnt work....cpu stays put at stock voltage, plus its idling at like 37 degrees.....its a venice core and i got a zalman 7000cu cooling it!

Dont know about your board, but on my AN8 there is a check box in OC Guru....Any thing like that on your board ?

I don't use C&Q because I overclock, so no experience with it. You did set the power scheme in XP correct?

Right ... checklist:

Enable in BIOS.
Install AMD processor driver.
Set Windows power scheme to "Minimal power management".

Yea, itll be the setting in control panel/power options. This has to be set to minimal for C&Q to work.

still no dice.... guess it doesnt like it

you guys my venice idles at about 35...thats a little high right? though i dont think it goes much over 40 during load.

35 is fine i think. My original clawhammer 3200+ idles at 38 if thats any consolation, with c&q enabled it should probably be lower though since its a newer cpu on a 90nm process with an aftermarket cooler. Have you installted the latest chipset drivers? Or the latest BIOS revision? Its possible it could be either of those.
