Need to ship an old desktop tower that I’m selling on eBay, box is about 27 pounds - have no use for it anymore. How do people on eBay manage to offer free shipping on nearly everything? Is there a special way to ship something to save on cost?

Comments/Suggestions?

FWIW, I never have never offered free shipping and always have sold my stuff. But the other option is to avoid ebay/shipping altogether (craigslist). I tend to do that if it is a heavy item.
Cheap shipping is only available if you do a lot of volume and can negotiate a better rate with the shippers. I suspect a lot of "free shipping" on ebay is people using their work account to ship.

The problem around here is that all the swallows are european swallows. A good eurpoean carrier swallow simply cannot carry a 27lb tower.

Sign up for an account with Fedex and UPS. I've found Fed-Ex ground was the cheaper one back in the day, not sure if it still holds true.
