Grr, got a couple drops on my favorite pair. How do I get rid of them? Does Goof Off work?
Ideally I don't want to remove blue dye with the touch up paint.

I think you're SOL. Anything that'll remove paint will also remove dye.

I thought jean dye was water based but touch up paint was oil based? Is there anything that will select for just one?

Paint thinner might do it. Might also melt some kinds of synthetic threads that are used to sew the jeans together. I don't think it would take the dye out of them though.

I did some googling and people are recommending goof off or hairspray. Anyone try these? Goof off takes oil stains off my carpet pretty nicely but haven't tried it on jeans yet.

Look for a product called Carbona Stain Devils. It comes in different formulations depending on what you're trying to get out. (Found typically in grocery stores in laundry section.)

According to Carbona, the Stain Devil formulation #1, made for nail polish, glue, and gum, is appropriate for paint removal.

BUT....closely follow the directions. It isn't a prewash but instead a stain remover to be used before washing.

And it works darned well. Left an ink pen in a shirt. Washed a load of shirts and pants with it, it exploded and stained a lot of clothes. Noticed it when I was taking the laundry out of the dryer.

Nothing was budging the stains on several pairs of jeans and shirts. Used the Carbona recommended by them and used it as recommended.....amazingly, the ink---VERY set in by this time----slowly but surely came out of everything. You'd never know any stains were anywhere.

As an auto mechanic, I get all sort of spills including paint. My wife says use 'GOOP', the mechanics hand cleaner. She had a 5 pound container by the washer for those hard to remove grease and paint stains. Her advice is to GOOP it up good, use stiff brush, let stand for a few hours and then rinse and wash. If this doesn't remove the stain, nothing will.

no chance, touchup paint dries too fast.
you'd need ridiculous solvents that would ruin the clothing to handle that.

I might just rip holes where the stains are ;)
Apparently it's trendy to have jeans with holes :)
