How to get black border for using lower-than-native LCD resolution?

I have Intel 82865G onboard graphics, with a HP L1925 19" lcd, native resolution is 1280x1024.

Part of the edge of the LCD is broken, so while I wait for a replacement, I want to set the resolution to 1024x768, BUT I don't want it to expand across the entire LCD panel. I want it to display just the center 1024x768 pixels, with a black border.

Anyone know how to set this up?

Most of the help I can find is for laptop users who do not want the black box to appear.

Since I'm on a desktop, I don't have that keyboard combo available. I've also heard this was called "stretch" mode. I think the manufacturer thought everyone would prefer stretch mode over black border mode for less-than-native resolutions, as there doesn't seem to be a way to do this...

Is there an custom control panel in Display properties for your video card? The nVidia tab in Advanced Settings on my laptop gives me the option to choose stretched or centered output. Intel may have something similar for their driver.

There doesn't seem to be any such option. Their tech support had me check OSD controls, but I know it would be in the graphics adapter controls, if anywhere.
