Hi there !
Here is what I am trying to do :
I do have a nvidia 660ti I want to hook up to my Bose lifestyle v20 5.1 home theater.

My PC : - Msi big bang x79 with its own optical/ coaxial audio output.

The thing is that I want to use the Nvidia card and audio. When I plug the hdmi cable in the card and then to the Bose I get nothing but a screen without taskbar. NO AUDIO.
I tried to disable the realtek MSi driver and have only the nvidia activated. I get the hdmi cable from the card to the Aux , to the Dvd audio in ....nothing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then I disabled the Nvidia and get the MSi realtek audio in action. Got the optical cable and the orange coax to the Msi motherboard. NOTHING.

I would appreciate if anybody will give me an solution of how to hook my nvidia card through an hdmi cable to a bose lifestyle 20 system. It should work instantly, BUT IT DOESN'T.

thank you for your input !!!

In the BIOS settings, is there some sort of Audio setting? My Asus board has to have the "Azalia HD AUDIO" option enabled to send audio via HDMI through my motherboard port. No idea if this will affect how a dedicated graphics card sends audio.

My understanding of your setup is this.

NVidia 660ti via HDMI to the Bose Unit
Bose Unit via HDMI to the Television

Make sure both cables are HDMI 1.4 compatable.

In this setup it appears you are getting into Windows but without a taskbar. If that is correct hit CTRL+ALT+Delete at the windows backround, Start Task Manager, File---> New Task (Run...), and type in without quotes "explorer.exe"

If that gets you a taskbar and usable environment then check device manager for detected audio devices and see if they are recognized.

The card definitely dishes out the audio. Either a bose specific issue, or something in the setup.

Sounds like you are, but make sure you have the latest drivers. And for audio devices make sure you've selected HDMI as opposed to any other audio devices that may be selected. Control Panel --> Hardware and Sound ---> Sound. There's where you'll see avialble audio streams, select the one named HDMI or NVidia or combo of those two names. Set it to 5.1 sound in the configuration and evaluate the configuration.

And if you haven't done so already, make sure the Nvidia HD Audio Driver is installed.

For what its worth my setup is HDMI from Nvidia card to NAD C390DD. I actually removed the nVidia driver because it was causing crashes on my system. So Windows will install a High Definition Audio Device driver instead.

So next to HDMI on my video card it shows a device called AD[]987/210 in the nVidia sound settings screen in the drop down box next to HDMI. Under Windows sound settings it shows a bunch of "unplugged" HDMI and one AD[]987/210 device with a green check mark.
