How to get adavance networking on XP

I have XP Pro, I have a share but how can i get the networking properties so I can give individual access to certain users.

All i have is option to share or not.

Is this machine a member of a domain, or is this a P2P network? Did you disable "simple file sharing" in folder options?

domain membership should be irrelevant. Make sure Simple file sharing is disabled in the Folder Options then use the security tab to set permissions.

Domain membership might well be relevant, depending on how one wanted to go about authenticating the users and assigning access rights. That's the only reason I asked. And I did mention the need to disable simple file sharing.

The problem was simple file sharing. I had completely forgotten where to shut that down.
