How to get a specific display resolution?

I just got the VX2025WM over the weekend. It has the same resolution (1680 x 1050) as yours. I didn't have any problems getting it to use that resolution. It started off at 1280x1024 because that is what my 17" lcd was at. All I did was go into properties and set it to the current one. Maybe your video card can't handle that resolution with it's drivers. Try updating to the latest drivers.

What video card are you using anyway?

As dph 1077 asks - what video cared are you using? Most new ones can handle 1680 x whatever.

Onboard sucks. That is probably the problem.
.........Wait a minute, you are running a 22" WS off onboard video? What the heck is wrong with you????
Seriously, get a separate graphics card with DVI. It'll be the right resolution and look a ton better.

By the way, you can disable that annoying nag in the LCD's menu.

Your video card needs to support the resolution and dual link. Radeon X1300 and up will do the trick. I'm running it off the X1600Pro, it's super sweet. I kept the clear plastic sheet on to protect the screen from people's greasy poking fingers.

I don't think the vx2225 uses dual link. But it desperately needs DVI connection, that analog must make that screen look like crap - I know analog did that to my LCD when my X1900 came defective and I had to use a gf2 mx PCI :(

Correct me if I'm wrong though.

I thought that 1680x1050 resolution requires dual link capable video card. Oh well, I must be thinking about the Dell 3007FPW.

You do not need to go out and buy a new video card. The x3000 is very new, so should support widescreen resolutions. The older intel onboard graphics chips could run that resolution just fine - as long as you're not playing games, of course. Just make sure you have the correct drivers for your video card installed.

Also, analog doesn't look as terrible as people say it does. Go through your monitor's menu and find "auto adjust." It makes a huge difference. I think people who think analog is so horrible don't know to do that.

You can do 1920x1200 on single link.

The 2560x1600 panels are the dual link ones.

I run my Acer 22" LCD off my onboard graphics (waiting for my X1900XT to get here), and the difference between VGA & DVI (tested w/ a previous X1900XT card) was minimal to me. For every day tasks, it would suit me, but of course not for gaming.

Hey Devilishy, how do you like that P5B-VM / Conroe combo? I have a QPack myself (black, no windows) and am looking to switch over from an AM2 setup.

Onboard graphics is fine if you are not a gamer. And IMO the difference between VGA & DVI is minimal (noticeable, but minimal). Like everyone says, make sure you get the latest video driver and viewsonic display driver and it should work fine.

Trey - The combo worked out good - make sure you get some arctic silver or the CPU gets pretty hot! The free gunk is crapola for this instance.

The case is sweet - compliments from everyone all around. The fan was my main concern, but it is actually very quiet. The HD is sometimes louder!

A lot of people complained that the handle is cheap and easy to break off, but so far its worked for me when carryhing it around.

I also got 2 GB of OCZ 800- the system screams!

This is the final config:
QPack Red case
P5B-VM + 6300
2 GB OCZ
Seagate 7200.10 250GB HD
BENQ DVD Writer
Lite-ON CDRW
Sabrient 52-1 card reader
