How to get a forum started

Hi,

I have recently set up a forum on my website (see signature). however, I am struggling with how to get people to use it !

I have listed some articles on there to kick it off.

Any other suggestions welcomed

do google have a specific directory of forums to addto ? - or do I just allow the usual spidering of the posts ?

It's the site that gets the forum members, your site is not of a kind I can see dragging people in. People come here initially to discuss the articles on the site and get advice about their own equipment.

Because your site is a business (where as Anandtech relies on advertising for its income (or so I understand)) you are never going to get the numbers. Provide people with another service on your site, such as reviews, tips or a column and more people will be inclined to want to discuss something.

you need to piggyback your forums off of a website...

IE... if you want a sports forums...
you must first create a sports website which draws traffic. Then those people will join your forums.
