How to format smartmedia card for camera?

I was using this smartmedia card for mp3 player, but not when I put it into camera to format it says card error. Can't format it from computer either. How do I solve this problem?

tried both, when i rite click and do it, it doesn't do anything. but when i double click on drive it says disk not formatted, would you like to? when i click yes, it says unable to format.
 
I bought this USB smartmedia reader and tried reading my camera's 128 mb card with it. Read it fine, except the camera couldn't read the card after! The damn thing formated my card! I feel for you.
 
do you have a fuji camera? Because it uses a proprietary format that you can get around using 3rd party freeware.
