How to force monitor frequency

Here's the situation:

Win XP Pro final, Asus V7700 32 MB video card, Dell P991 monitor, NVIDIA 12.81 drivers...

I can setup 1600x1200 at 75 Hz in Windows but when I get in my sim (Nascar 4) using Open GL GUI, the frequency changes to 60 Hz and that's a little painful on the eyes after about 5 minutes.

I tried 1280x960 at 85 Hz in windows, changes to 60 Hz in sim. I know the sim will allow more than that because when I had my other monitor (Acer 99 SL) I got 85 Hz with 1280x960 res. Since I changed to Dell monitor i's been doin this.

Is there anything in Win XP registry that I can change to force the same frequency in sim than in Windows?? Come on all you brainy computer type individuals...scratch those brains for me please.. 🙂

Thanks

Ray
