So... I got for my birthday an ASUS 9550 Gamer Edition card.

I understand this can be flashed and/or overclocked to a 9600 Pro... but I didn't find the link explaining how.

However, I found this note here:
http://www.techtree.com/techtree/jsp/showstory.jsp?storyid=54050&upto=7
indicating the Omega drivers will unlock the clocks.

Has anyone here done it successfully?

Any issues I should be aware of, before proceeding to the operation?

Are these the Omega drivers I need - Radeon Omega Drivers 2.6.12 (Catalyst 5.2), found at http://www.omegadrivers.net/ - and is there anything else I would need to download as well?

yes, you will need the 3rd party drivers (omega) in order to overclock.. for overclocking you will also want to download atitool and radlinker.. use atitool to find your max core/ram and then use radlinker to apply them (atitool has a fuzzy spinning box so you can watch for artifacts when overclocking)... both atitool and radlinker are available at omega's site.

before flashing (if that's what you plan to do), you should run some stability tests with your core/mem overclocked to 9600pro speeds (3dmark). you may or may not require extra cooling (ramsinks, better hsf) and generally 9550s are great overclockers, so it shouldn't be a problem. but you should definetly run stability tests before flashing just in case ;)
