Make it like jury duty.

No more elections, no more career politicians. Every year, a different crop of tax-paying individuals are selected at random and given "civic duty".

This immediately removes any issues with campaigning, bribes, lobbying, etc. It truely would be government for the people, by the people. Not "government for corporations, by the liberal elite" as it is now.

Sure, the idea needs to be fleshed out a bit, but it'd be a huge step up from where we are now!

When you say like jury duty do you mean with a selection process similar to jury duty, or do you mean more like the draft?

That sounds like a really bad idea. Just what we need - Joe Blow writing laws and such...

The result of such an action would be that Professional Bureaucrats would effectively be In Charge of the Government. The Lobbyists would merely redirect their efforts accordingly.
