Does anyone know of a program than you can run MP3's through to kind of "re-eq" the sound? Ive noticed that a lot of the mp3's I download have too much bass on them. It's almost like the idiot that ripped the song tried to screw with the levels and make things sound better but made it worse IMO.

Its a real pain to have to keep changing the eq settings when a song with too much bass comes on and then having to turn the bass back up when its over.

Thanks.

you can use any wave editor to adjust equlizing levels. my favorite is Goldwave. But i have to tell you, once you equalize something, and you save it, you cant really obtain the original sound by just re equalizing in the opposite way. some frequencies are cut in the process.

heres another way.

the sound recorder bundled with some sound cards have an input called "what you hear" (creative names it such anyway), just play the mp3 with winamp eq'ed the way you want and use the sound recorder to record it while winamp plays it. then crunch it into a mp3 again.

probably lose some qaulity that way though.

I can do anything I want to the sound with Goldwave

It is shareware/almost freeware. Requires that you take the time to learn how to use its many functions but well worth it.

As for your specific problem, it can equalize sounds, and there is more than one method to do it: from simple sliders to graphs to entering an equation.

If you have a Creative Labs Audigy sound card or newer X-FI, there is free software on the driver disc that will change it for you.

My Audigy 2 comes with a on-desk device that controls volume and bass. What you hear is what you get in the software controls. Either will adjust your settings to your specs. No need to reset, and you can find card on eBay for about $40. Your choice.
