How to find the Kodak moments

Hey guys,

traveling to Europe in a few weeks and, equipped with my Canon A590IS, will be taking pictures of any and everything historically significant. But I'm also looking to get into the general business of looking for and finding good shots.

Does anyone have any guides they can recommend that were helpful to them for getting started?

That's kind of like reading a book to learn how to ride a bicycle...Push down on pedal, balance..........

Just take lots (many more that you think you'll ever want) of shots. Vary exposures, composition, camera angels, framing, zoom, etc. With experience you'll get better. After a few thousand shots you'll be OK.

Something that helps new photographers is to keep a notebook and record what you did, then review it later when you review the pics.

look at good pics before you go (in a photo book or online like at fredmiranda forums)

remember the rule of thirds

your viewer should never be able to guess your height by looking at your pics (so don't stand up straight for every shot, especially if the height of the camera is apparently by the perspective of the shot)
