How to find out how many processors my server has?

How do I find out how many processors my server has? They all have XEON processors, but when I go to Computer Management -> System Summary, some are shown as having 2, while some are shown as having 4. Now I am sure none of these machines have 4 processors. So how do I get an accurate count of processors in a server?

As far as I know, Xeon's have HT. That would mean that the number of processors displayed in the Device Manager, or System Summary, may very well translate to twice the number of physical processors. You say some of the servers (I'm assuming similarly spec'ed), have 2 CPU's showing, while others have 4. Maybe the ones showing 2 CPU's either have just the one HT enabled Xeon, or 2 physical Xeon's but HT hasn't been enabled.

If in doubt you could just

Not all Xeons have HT. Older ones will not, but if yours do have HT, and it is enabled, they will show up as dual processors. That would account for a machine showing 4 processors when it only has 2 physical procs installed.

And then a 4th for Open 'em up!

I like the "open it up" method myself guys, but remember... TommyVercetti may not be able to simply tell 1000 employees "Haha, sorry everyone! The database server is offline for a while! :) I know this is costing the company about $2000 per minute but that's JUST TOO BAD! :D"

Eh? ;)

Try posting the speeds of the CPUs in question. Only P4 based Xeons will have HT, and IIRC only the 533 FSB ones have it.
