IP address is the location of your device. The router or the internet connection hardware needs to detect your device’s IP address to connect you to the internet. IP address is also used in tracking your online activities. Although you may not need to keep your IP address in mind, you should know how to access the information in your device. Here’s how you can find the IP address in your Mac.

Step 1
Select ‘System Preferences’

Navigate your cursor to the ‘Apple’ logo at the top-left corner, and select ‘System Preferences’ from the drop down list. You may even access ‘System Preferences’ from the dock at the bottom of the screen. This will open up a pane consisting of various system settings and apps.

Step 2
Select ‘Sharing’

Find and select ‘Sharing’ option from the multiple icons displayed on the ‘System Preferences’ pane. Consequently, a box opens up displaying the internet network access to your device.

Step 3
Select ‘Network’

If you are not connected to any internet, then ensure your connection is enabled. Select the ‘Network’ interface from the list of network connections; for instance, ‘Ethernet’. Consequently, the IP address will be displayed including other network details.
