How to find exact specs for Asus laptops

So, Asus has the worst website of any laptop manufacturer, and their model number scheme is byzantine and obscure. I want to get a G75VW laptop, but there's more than one. I think I want the DS72 model, but I cannot find the exact specs of that vs the DS71 or DS73-3D or BBK5 or any number of other possible system configurations of which there is absolutely NO MENTION of on Asus' website. Does anyone know how to find the specific system configurations for Asus laptops?

That's because there is a different model number per configuration due to selling pre-configured through retail/etail. So, the exact same notebook, but with a different size HDD? Gotta have a new model number.

I looked at their web site and besides not nailing down the exact sub-model numbers, they got the weight wrong. At least, I'm pretty sure that a 17" gaming notebook should weigh a bit more than 4.5 pounds.

This Amazon page has two of the sub-models listed. Newegg has a higher end one with the better graphics card.

It's exactly what zap said. The different models corresponds to different hardware used. The DS72 has the same CPU, RAM is 16GB, Graphic card is 670M with 3G, HDD is 750GB as well as a 256GB SSD. Weighs at about 9lbs with the battery.

Jeffrey, thanks for this. I know that codes like DS71, DS72 mean specific hardware configurations, my question is, Does Asus have a list of those hardware configurations for a specific model of laptop like the G75VW?
