HI
I am about to do a reinstall and want to back up stuff first.

I have found loads of duplication across the user on the PC and want to be able to identify all the duplicate jpegs [family pix etc] so that i can backup one copy of every and not waste space with 10 copies of the same pix in 5 different folders etc

i am sure i read of ways to do this but could anyone prob me in the right direction?

Thanks

Start, Search, then all files. Just type the extension of the file, .jpeg and it will search for all jpegs on your harddrives.

then arrange the found files in size order (click the size tab) and scoot down them.

with the pix, finding the exact dupes shouldn't be a problem; what will cause grief is the mutiple copies i/missus played about with in Photoshop to reduce file sizes, amalgamated etc to email
